The problem with migraines headaches is that it is a very commonplace ailment. However, the bigger problem is that the causes of migraine headaches are still not completely understood, even with all our technological advancements.

There are several causes for frequent headaches, some much more common than others, and even some are unknown to most people. Therefore, if you suffer from frequent headache you should know that sometimes the underlying reason is quite severe and should be treated by your doctor.

Headaches in any form are very unspeakable to the sufferer. Some headaches like migraines can cause more problems than just a headache. These problems could be nausea, light sensitivity and a throbbing pain in the head. Sometimes the headache pain is felt on one side of the head.

The first headache treatment was laudumn, which completely ignored what type of headache; it was the standard treatment for all headaches. Laudumn effectively is able to dull pain but it is also highly addictive. Opiate medication is never used in today's society to treat headaches since it does not actual solve what is causing your headache.

There are many causes of migraine headaches, but the out come is usually always the same, blood vessels enlarge, and some nerve endings release a chemical that seem to coil around the blood vessels. This then causes an artery to enlarge between the skull and scalp. However, medical reasons aside, there are certain triggers that you should be aware of.

However, with that said, severe headache pain is nothing to ignore. There are many different causes of severe headache pain, and they are classified into two categories--primary headaches and secondary headaches. You need to know the difference to know what to do.

Dehydration is a very common cause of headaches particularly in the summer months. It is very easy to get dehydrated when you are leading a busy life and running from one place to another. When dehydration occurs, a common symptom is headaches. The best thing that you can try when you feel a headache coming on is to try drinking a couple of glasses of water and wait thirty minutes.

There is no doubt that people are stressed and that stress is impossible to avoid. The problem with stress is that it leads to tension of the shoulders which causes headaches. Frequent breaks and spurts of physical activity during stressful periods may help.

Stress has long been suspected of contributing to a wide range of health problems and tinnitus and headache are among them. Stress can often be seen as not the sole cause of these conditions but rather a contributing factor.

On the other hand, the research to determine the cause of migraine headaches is ongoing. While no one definitive cause has been arrived at, there have been several possibilities put forward, resulting from clinical studies that have been done. Researchers are also exploring possible causes as they relate to the body's chemicals, structure and nerve pathways.
